The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Proposal Coordinator to join our talented, inclusive and supportive Sales & Pursuits team of proposal coordinators, pursuit specialists, graphic designers and strategy professionals. As a Proposal Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to work with a proposal development team that includes engineers and subject matter experts to manage proposal efforts and incorporate best practices to develop client-centric, visually appealing and compliant sales documents. The role is always interesting, as each proposal has it owns unique blend of layout design, writing and solution offerings to meet a wide range of client needs. In this role, you will:

  • Complete tasks with minimal day-to-day supervision as you drive the proposal through completion

  • Utilize team support any time you need it to grow in your role at Black & Veatch

  • Design proposals using strong writing and InDesign skills

The Team

Our Governments & Environment business sector provides innovative solutions for integrated planning, design, engineering, and construction support of critical infrastructure and facilities as well as resiliency and environmental services for clients worldwide. The Governments & Environment Sales & Pursuits team collaborates with business leaders and client-facing professionals to plan and execute strategies and develop pursuit and proposal materials with focused messaging and content. Our team provides expertise in pursuit strategy and proposal management. We help teams enhance Black & Veatch's position as an industry leader and deliver new business.

We help teams:

  • Win work - assess, position for and capture opportunities

  • Showcase expertise - develop marketing materials

  • Inform, persuade, compel - create designs and strategic communications

  • Drive efficient and effective results - manage best-practice tools and processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage activities during the development of RFP responses, including kick-off calls, content development, iterative reviews, document production and interview prep

  • Manage multiple proposal deadlines simultaneously, staying connected with teams and keeping them engaged with deadlines

  • Research and gather proposal materials, including drafting non-technical content using boilerplate materials or prior proposals

  • Develop proposal layout and content using a robust InDesign template

  • Work with the proposal team to conceptualize design elements and develop simple graphics as well as coordinate with our in-house graphic designers when complex graphics are needed

  • Drive proposal progress to meet scheduled milestones and compliance with the RFP

  • Review, proofread and edit proposals for clarity and grammar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced A/E/C environment and managing multiple deadlines

  • Intermediate skills in creative layout using Adobe InDesign and Acrobat required

  • Confident personality with strong interpersonal skills to communicate with various internal clients and build working relationships across subregions and solutions

  • Strong facilitator of multi-faceted teams to lead proposal team meetings and draft reviews

  • Strategic written communications, including persuasive writing and messaging, proofreading and editing at various draft stages

  • Critical thinking and creative problem solving to rework proposal drafts efficiently

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage the entire proposal process from kickoff to submittal to interview preparation/coaching to closeout

  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of project or proposal experience.

  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
