Job Description

Oracle Cloud Data Center Services is seeking an US-based Energy and Sustainability Manager, reporting to the Sustainability Director within DC Engineering Services. As energy and sustainability manager, you will have day-to-day responsibility for shaping and driving Oracle Cloud’s approach to energy procurement and meeting its sustainability goals. As part of Oracle, we have a goal to reach 100% renewable energy, halve our global operational emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. Energy and sustainability are growing in focus across our business and this role will provide critical expertise and execution across Oracle Cloud data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of Oracle Cloud’s data center energy strategy across global markets – North and South America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific

  • Create and manage requirements around energy sourcing including leveraging expertise of regulated and deregulated power markets, financial modeling and analysis, contract negotiations and amendments, collection and preparation of high-quality data

  • Engage with energy and sustainability consultant(s) to evolve global strategy and reporting

  • Monitor energy markets for opportunities and risks and recommend strategies for Oracle to stay ahead of these challenges

  • Cross-functionally develop and manage relationships across Oracle including with capacity planning, site selection, supply chain management, data center engineering, data center operations, and corporate sustainability and procurement teams

  • Partner with finance on developing annual energy forecasts based on knowledge of current and future footprint

  • Prepare white papers and presentations for executives on energy and sustainability strategy and progress

  • As needed manage requirements around operational and design sustainability elements including renewable energy, PUE, WUE, green buildings, etc.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years professional experience; 3-5+ years managing power procurement, renewable energy sourcing and/or sustainability within a large matrix environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM or business with technical expertise on energy and data center topics

  • Understanding of regulated and deregulated energy markets, power hedging, power purchase agreements

  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks: Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Science-based Targets, SASB, TCFD, CDP, Greenhouse Gas Protocol

  • Familiarity with compliance requirements and pending requirements: U.S. SEC Climate Risk Disclosure, EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres, EU Climate-Neutral Data Centre Operator Pact, etc.

  • Experience inputting into annual sustainability reporting requirements including GHG inventories

  • Advanced Excel expertise building financial models and analyzing energy costs and volumes

  • Articulate, executive presence, comfort with negotiations and supplier engagement

  • Ability to support global time zones

  • Ability to travel occasionally including internationally

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • As Oracle also has a renewable energy goal, 1-3+ years managing renewable energy strategies including REC sourcing and developing multi-year roadmaps to reach voluntary goals is ideal

  • Deep network of energy suppliers and renewable energy traders

  • Data center sustainability expertise developing and executing sustainability and energy plans cross-functionally

  • 1-2+ years people management experience

  • Ability to support EMEA time zone on a regular basis

Hiring Range: from $87,800 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
