Summary:

Facebook is seeking a Director of Energy to manage Facebook’s energy portfolio in line with the company’s strategic objectives. This role has overall global responsibility for the data center energy supply portfolio and leading the team that manages all aspects of energy supply and energy strategy, including: commercial, regulatory, market, policy, technical, finance, and renewable energy development.

Required Skills:

  1. Grow and lead a global team of energy professionals dedicated to improving energy supply reliability, reducing energy costs, and increasing the amount of energy supplied through clean and renewable energy sources for Facebook’s data centers and corporate offices.

  2. Communicate and collaborate with key leaders across sustainability, engineering, legal, and finance to share, develop and execute Facebook’s energy supply strategy for the company’s rapidly growing fleet of international and domestic data centers and offices.

  3. Guide team members on approach to energy solutions in markets where Facebook has existing data centers and is expanding or optimizing, or in markets where Facebook is considering new investment.

  4. Develop the vision for Facebook’s energy program using knowledge of power markets, regulatory and policy frameworks, with strong business acumen and technical execution.

  5. Provide thought leadership on opportunities to expand investments and provide new, innovative approaches to initiatives that advance the company’s goals around sustainability and decarbonization.

  6. Accountable for projections and budgets for energy costs and capital expenditures for investments.

  7. Represent Facebook in meetings with executives from potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.

  8. Recruit, on-board, and mentor internal energy staff and ensure robust learning and career development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 15+ years of overall experience working in the energy space.

  2. 8+ years experience managing a multi-layered organization.

  3. Proven commercial leadership and negotiation experience.

  4. Experience developing energy programs using knowledge of power markets, regulatory and policy frameworks, with proven business acumen and technical execution.

  5. Experience driving internal stakeholders to consensus on important issues.

  6. Experience with problem-solving skills as well as being effective in a fast paced, hands-on work environment, and have a track record of success leading projects and developing complex solutions across multiple stakeholders.

  7. Experience working in a collaborative environment where cross-functional communication is valued.

  8. Proven track record of outstanding organizational leadership, including leading and scaling teams during growth cycles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline. MBA or J.D.

  2. Experience leading a global organization with international presence.

  3. Experience with developing large-scale energy projects.
