Principal Financial Group Investment Specialist (Central Region) in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an Investment Specialist to join our Retirement Investment Support team. In this role, you'll support our plan sponsors, advisors and other internal partners on the investment side, uncovering investment opportunities !

  • Serve as subject matter expert for plan sponsors, advisors and relationship managers. Provide scheduled reviews.

  • Provide insightful investment analysis and market intelligence to existing retirement plan clients and advisors.

  • Work across multiple areas of both Retirement and Asset Management, partnering with multiple collaborators in different areas of both businesses

  • Review investment block of business with Relationship Managers to uncover additional investment enhancements

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of eight years of experience; plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in investment management and/or corporate retirement plan marketplace.

  • FINRA SIE or equivalent, Series 6 and 63 (or 66)Licenses required with the ability to meet firm standards for registration within applicable jurisdictions.

  • Must have an understanding of investment management products and services across all asset classes.

  • Excellent communication skills are essential including verbal, written, interpersonal and strong presentation skills.

  • The role also requires an entrepreneurial spirit with a high-level creativity, self-initiative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Extensive travel and overnight stays required (up to 50% of the time).

  • As a required part of the role, candidate must be able to provide personal transportation to business related events.

  • This position may be subject to SEC restrictions on personal political contributions.

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Possession of or progress toward MBA, CIMA, CFA or other investment designation preferred but not required.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$137000 - $185000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
