ARAG North America Lead Test Automation Specialist in Des Moines, Iowa

Do you have proven expertise in developing and coordinating automated testing and data analysis to ensure high quality software projects are delivered on time? Are you passionate about promoting the use of automation? ARAG is hiring a Lead Test Automation Specialist! This person will champion automation at ARAG and mentor team members in QA methodology.

  • Develops and execute automated tests using Selenium.

  • Leads the QA Automation strategy for all software product lines.

  • Reviews, defines and writes acceptance criteria for user stories ensuring each are testable. Creates test automation to meet acceptance criteria.

  • Establishes, monitors and maintains continuous integration schedules.

  • Stays current with test automation techniques, tools and best practices.

  • Collaborates with developers, end users and scrum team to create test plans and scripts. Performs impact analysis for new features on automation suite.

  • Conducts automation code reviews.

  • Updates standards and guidelines as necessary for tools, process, and automation.

  • Maintains and updates Selenium test automation framework including all related software and hardware components, like Jenkins and Browserstack.

  • Works closely with Product Owners and Scrum Teams to understand product specifics, prioritize features for automation, and to create corresponding automation test strategies, including elimination of duplication.

  • Assists with Scrum Team estimation of stories and sizing of effort to include the representation of the test automation and engagement with Continuous Integration (CI) required.

  • Runs test validations at various levels including DB validation, rules validation, service validation, logging validation, and UI validation.

  • Researches failures and coordinates with scrum team and IT Ops to find solutions. Tracks problems and reports on errors that are identified.

  • Tests program for validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to establishment standards.

  • Responsible for ensuring thorough end to end testing prior to implementation.

  • Creates and reviews all testing documentation to ensure completeness based on project requirements.

  • Increases the expertise of the automation team by providing mentorship and training to others on standards, best practices, and framework design.

  • Communicates test progress, results and other relevant information to project stakeholders, scrum team, and management.

  • Continuously reviews related tools for improvement in our test approach and strategies, evaluates replacement or additional software to integrate into the automation framework.

  • Promotes the use of automation in the organization. Helps illustrate the value add with data. Grows the organizational trust in the automation solutions.

  • Serves as a positive role model by representing the ARAG Values.

  • When necessary, executes manual testing.

  • Document testing activities using best practices to maintain traceability using Rally or similar tools.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

  • Experience with software similar to Rally, Jira, or Azure DevOps for defect and test case.

  • Experience with full quality management lifecycle for application development.

  • Experience with system, functional, integration and regression testing.

  • Experience with automated testing approaches and tools.

  • Experience with SQL, and understand of relational databases.

  • Experience testing web-based applications.

Skills

Required

  • Use of testing automation tools.

  • Must have knowledge and understand fundamental concepts of Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD), Automated Testing (GUI, database, and service), User Acceptance Testing.

  • Ability to analyze and translate requirements and development stories into test scripts.

  • Experience developing in C# using Visual Studio.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to foster teamwork, commitment and cooperation.

  • Ability and willingness to mentor, train, teach and informally lead others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate and present complex concepts to varying audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience using Selenium.

  • Experience with Cucumber and behavior driven development of automated testing, including Gherkin.

  • Experience using security scanning tools (example Qualys) inside the automation pipeline to enhance our security posture through automation testing and tools.

  • Experience with Oracle.

  • Knowledge and experience testing in an AGILE environment.

  • Docker and Jenkins experience.

  • Experience using BrowserStack or a similar virtual instance technology in the automation framework.

  • Load and performance testing experience.

Education

  • Four-year college level education, or equivalent combination of education, experience and formal training in IT or a related field.

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in QA Methodology or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of development and implementation of automation or a related field.

  • Experience in leading others informally and mentoring.

Certifications, Licenses, Associations, etc.
