Position Overview

Kemin Industries is seeking a confident and driven Learning & Development Manager to join their Global Human Resources team. This role will lead Kemin’s learning and development strategy, assessing its implementation and assuring its successful outcome. Responsibilities will include identifying and assessing the current and future training needs, deploying various training methods, monitoring the program’s performance, managing the training budget and staying abreast of the training trends and its developments. This position will design, build and deploy programs to meet the development needs, effectively managing the training delivery and facilitation of curricula across Kemin. The position is located in Des Moines, IA.

  • Develop and lead strategy to build a world-class learning & development function that will impact Kemin on a global basis.

  • Design, facilitate and evaluate various trainings (virtual and in-person) to a global audience

  • Manage the strategy and optimization of Kemin’s Learning Management System

  • Demonstrate excellent project management and consulting skills in the management of large-scale talent development programs for Kemin

  • Oversee the development of a robust Management and Leadership Development Program, introducing new and experienced managers to the expected leadership behaviors and skills.

  • Collaborate on cross-functional competency mapping

  • Design and deploy scalable, highly impactful people development programs and experiences that ensure strong talent pipeline.

  • Formulate metrics and evaluation tools to monitor and analyze impact and effectiveness of programs, ensuring return on investment.

  • Lead the development of learning tools and programs to support strategic Human Resources initiatives such as Succession Planning, Individual Development Plans, Performance Management, etc.

  • Evaluate emerging development tools and delivery methods used to effectively develop and deliver learning programs.

  • Consult with leaders to create development plans for their team members

  • Advise appropriate learning and development strategies for overall engagement and impact.

  • Create and document overall solution design, including support materials, for all levels of learning and projects of varied scope and complexity.

  • Manage effective transition between solution design and content build processes.

  • Manage relationships with content vendors (e.g., SkillSoft, Cornerstone)

  • Interact with stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy of instructional content.


  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

  • 5+ years’ experience in corporate learning and instructional design

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience presenting in various modalities to a multi-cultural audience

  • Advanced technology skills including Microsoft Office suite required; experience with Articulate or similar software preferred

  • Experience with Cornerstone LMS strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to create effective and comprehensive content

  • Ability to make quick and well-informed decisions, even under high pressure situations.

  • Global Travel – Ability to travel up to 25% to Kemin locations
