Summary

The Manager, Design Producers role is an active Design Producer with management responsibily of a group of direct reports consisting of Design Producers (DP) and Associate Design Producer team (ADP) within the Design Production and Operations group (DPO). Management includes daily oversight, training, continual refinement of the responsibilities and performance assessments.

As the Design Producer team continues to grow and expand within the Freeman enterprise, this role is also responsible for the identification, development and implementation of tools and processes intended to further refine the definition of the discipline and improve efficiencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Design Producer (estimated 65%)

  • Responsible for overall project management for the design team on select Tier 1 projects, accounts and/or portfolios.

  • Establishes and drives creative design milestones, timelines and project plans in support of the production schedule.

  • Collaborates with Growth leads to determine the scope of work for the design team, estimated number of hours per resource and high-level budgeting.

  • Leverages Freeman’s project management tool to build project plans and continuously update those plans over the course of the project to reflect changes in scope, resources and/or schedule.

  • Ensures timely and complete handoff to Freeman’s Delivery teams.

  • Tracks the amount of design time spent and monitors net new client requests to ensure the project stays within budget.

  • Collaborates with Freeman’s Design Resource Managers to align talent and availability to the needs and scope of the project.

  • Assigns and manages the internal and external design resources assigned to their projects.

  • In conjunction with Growth, Design and Delivery, develops relationships with clients that position Freeman as a strategic partner and advisor.

  • Has a role in maintaining multimillion dollar client relationship(s) with the responsibility for budget and profit management, client satisfaction, prioritization of all deliverables and ensuring quality of work.

Team Management (estimated 25%)

  • Manages and trafficks the workload for assigned direct reports with Senior Manager.

  • Conducts regular team meetings with Senior Manger, Design Producer to provide and receive feedback on performance, training and areas for improvement.

  • Participates in the development of short and long term career goals.

  • Acts as a mentor and trainer for the direct reports, reviewing and approving work product as needed.

  • Assist with developing training materials for onboarding new hires into the DP and ADP role.

  • Defines the day to day tasks and responsibilities of the ADP role and their involvement in resourcing, project management and other administrative duties.

  • Oversees ADPs on the project work they are assigned to for training and mentoring purposes.

  • Manages stakeholder expectations for the ADPs across the Freeman enterprise.

  • Collaborates with Senior Manager, Design Producer and Freeman’s Design Resourcing Managers to align ADP talent and availability to the needs and scope of work.

  • Attends weekly meetings with the color team leads within Design as a status update on ADP performance.

  • Responsible for hiring and employment decisions for approved ADP headcounts including candidate vetting, interviewing, hiring and/or terminations.

Design Production Process Innovation (estimated 10%)

  • Strives to innovate on processes and procedures to improve departmental success, efficiency and strategic growth.

  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for procedural improvement, defining the scope of work and then building the tools and/or training material required to implement.

  • Develops new hire onboarding materials for Design Producers and/or current employee continuing education.

  • Collaborates with leaders on our Design Creative and Production team, Agency and Customer Solutions Managers (CSMs) in order to determine opportunites for process improvement within the Design Production discipline.

  • Continually refines the job description of the Design Producer and Associate Design Producer, based on the current needs and how they best integrate into the Freeman design processes and workflows.

Education & Experience

  • Related degree from a four-year accredited college or university is preferred, but not required.

  • 5 to 10 years experience in a project management role perferably in live events or brand experience industry.

  • Experience with various projects types, including live event, consumer marketing, web, mobile, video, brand, and strategic consulting.

  • Must have strong presentation, verbal and written skills.

  • Must have the ability to think quickly under pressure, as well as motivate and engage the team to produce the best possible results.

  • Excellent problem solving and challenge resolution skills.

  • Diplomacy & tact in challenging situations and in dealing with many personality types and working styles.

  • Proven leadership, team-building, and customer service skills.

  • Proven computer skills in all MS Office programs.

  • Expertise in Workfront is preferred, but not required.
