Summary:

Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently delivers our innovative services. Facebook’s Energy Team is seeking an experienced and self-motivated energy professional to help us grow and manage our data center portfolio to ensure a reliable, cost effective, and sustainable energy supply with a focus in both regulated and unregulated markets. This person will manage a team of energy professionals focused on electricity regulation, policy, utility relationships, and commercial energy structures for our growing fleet of data centers. The Manager, Energy Managers will support the continued development and execution of Facebook’s US energy portfolio centered on a supply of cost competitive clean and renewable energy sources consistent with the company’s overall strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing energy professionals to success in commercial utility negotiations, work in RTO markets, as well as knowledge of a broader spectrum of energy supply issues including commercial, regulatory, market, technical and financial expertise.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage a team of Energy Managers and support further team growth

  2. Guide the development of team priorities and the strategy for executing on them

  3. Support the team in their work developing new sites and/or managing the energy landscape with sites in the existing portfolio

  4. Develop internal cross functional relationships in support of the team with internal organizations including data center on-site staff, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal, and finance

  5. Support team members on navigating complex commercial, regulatory, and policy issues and their proposed solutions

  6. Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management

  7. Lead and support various energy projects as needed

  8. Ability to travel domestically, as needed (25% to 50% likely)

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline

  2. 10+ years of experience in navigating energy issues associated with commercial/industrial loads and new customer locations

  3. 5+ years of direct people management experience

  4. Experience with commercial arrangements for electric service, utility interconnections, and green tariffs

  5. Experience representing business interests to the leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders

  6. Experience leading with principles of accountability, transparency and recognition, with a culture of continuous improvement and learning

  7. Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders

  8. Proven communication skills, especially achieving alignment across multiple disciplines, and communicating transparently to leadership teams
