Overview

The PV Design Manager is responsible for the di

rect supervision and managerial and personal development of Designers in addition to over

sight of the PV Design. The PV Design Manager will be responsible for delegating, developing and standardizing the policies, procedures and documentation for the Design team, and will work to ensure consistent, quality and on time performance of the Design team to its customers. This position requires an ability to think critically, comfort with collaborating with unique individuals, and a passion for delivering high quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Associate Designers, Designers, Sr. Designers, and Staff Designers.

  • Hire, build, and grow great teams. Our talent distinguishes us from all other companies.

  • Manage work schedules and timekeeping of direct reports through Workday

  • Monitor meetings with direct reports and internal stakeholders in order to maintain standardization and drive both quality and process improvements;

  • Actively manage the performance and goals of team members;

  • Perform and track audits of design team;

  • Drives safety, quality and efficiency - within the team and through designs;

  • Mentor and motivate direct reports to achieve goals and objectives

  • Coach direct reports through project challenges

  • Deliver constructive feedback to direct reports

  • Develop action plans with direct reports to improve performance or correct behavior

  • Delegate and escalate appropriately;

  • Demonstrate ethics and professionalism at all times

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial PV drafting/design and experience with residential PV drafting/design

  • In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD, National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), and applicable fire codes required

  • Management experience preferred

  • NABCEP certification preferred.

  • Strong data analysis skills required

  • In-depth understanding of main panel upgrades and utility variance protocols for both commercial solar, Rule 21, line side taps, and energy storage interconnection policy

  • Knowledge of residential and commercial PV construction

  • In-depth understanding of different interconnection methods and viability

  • Extreme attention to detail and consistency

  • Organized and detail oriented with strong communication skills are a must.

  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to interpret construction documents required

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Excellent computer skills; MS Suite, Oracle, Salesforce, Google Suite required

  • Professional appearance and client interaction

  • Good people skills, able to manage, motivate and discipline if necessary

  • Ability to execute multiple projects and tasks and manage competing priorities

  • Ability to support the development of processes and tools in a growing department

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement to translate designs to installation

Physical Demands

  • Be able to remain in a seated position for a portion of the day

  • Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment

  • Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to: walking, standing, stooping, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for periods of time as needed

  • Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks

  • Have adequate visual and hearing acuity to follow instructions, operate office equipment and determine accuracy of the work assigned

  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

$87,847.00 to $117,058.00

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards.
