Meta Manager, Verticals, Research Operations in Des Moines, Iowa
Summary:
The Verticals branch within the Meta Research Operations team is comprised of Pillar-dedicated Operations teams (e.g. RL Research Operations). These teams are embedded within Research Operations but focus on identifying the needs and strategic opportunities unique to their respective pillar. As the Manager, Verticals Research Operations, you will partner closely with our Research Program Managers and Research Leaders across WhatsApp, ABP, Community Integrity and Social Impact, to implement operational systems, act as a connector, and problem solve operational hurdles to enable researchers to do their most impactful work. The ideal candidate will be a leader who is passionate about building cross-org relationships and scaling teams. This is a unique opportunity to work across a broad range of teams and product spaces, and our ideal candidate is a systems-level thinker who enjoys being able to go deep, but also sees where dots should be connected and where processes should be scaled. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, enabling the team's best work by leading strategic planning of programs, managing short and long-term project milestones, anticipating project issues and resolving them, connecting resources to research needs, and removing barriers to doing great work. The Verticals Manager is a creative problem solver and knows how to most effectively leverage cross-functional partners. You will utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills that help our talented teams operate at their highest and most effective level. This role requires both execution and strategic-focused program management experience and broad knowledge of research's impact on product design and development. Communication skills, ability to manage complex logistics, and a highly organized approach are mandatory.

Move initiatives forward, find resources, raise concerns to appropriate owners early and resolve open issues that prevent progress
Hold the line when schedule or progress is in jeopardy while maintaining respectful relationships
Predict roadblocks and obstacles and establish meetings or integration points between teams
Prioritize competing needs with reasoning and solutions
Coordinate resources across multiple projects and teams
Contribute to overall Research Program Management team processes and tools, updating databases and initiating improvements where needed
Define Verticals Research Operations Team vision, set, and communicate team goals and communicate strategy. Define measures of success for both the Ops Team as well as the UX Research Team
Engage, partner, and collaborate with UX Research team members and leadership to proactively identify opportunities to radically improve the effectiveness of our research process
Build and maintain a trusted, cooperative relationship with internal cross-functional partners (e.g., Legal, Privacy, Policy, Finance, Facilities, Security)
Serve as a dependable point-of-contact/link to the Global Facebook Research Ops team, leveraging new processes or best practices for the Verticals teams when needed and relevant
Utilize strategic tools, systems, and data to help the team analyze trends and deliver insights to define goals and improve processes
Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team with varying levels of experience
Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS degree or higher
8+ years of experience in operations or project/program management
3+ years people management experience
3+ years of experience in technology OR user experience research
Proven track record of breaking down processes and identifying pain points to deliver business improvements
Experience communicating with a variety of audiences ranging from product team members to directors/VPs
Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional groups to produce results
Experience developing and managing a budget
Experience of operational routines and the management of internal-facing project teams
Experience scaling operations in a business environment
