What You Will Do :

The Managing Consultant in Grid Transformation plays a key role in developing, delivering, and supporting proposals of solutions related to the power grid, especially focused on the changing industry dynamics as part of a clean energy future. This Managing Consultant- Grid Transformation position is a highly challenging role that draws heavily upon all the analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills essential to delivering effective regulatory and general strategy consulting engagements. It is essential for the Managing Consultant-Grid Transformation to have the ability to assume the responsibilities of project management of significant projects while at the same time being a part of and leading a team. The Managing Consultant-Grid Transformation will also function as a consultant and must organize all tasks and schedules in carrying out substantial business analyses and delivering high-quality, client-ready work.

As our clients are often large with complex systems, the Managing Consultant-Grid Transformation must demonstrate considerable poise and business maturity to perform effectively and add value in the client environment. The Managing Consultant-Grid Transformation must effectively represent and advocate for Guidehouse and our clients in multiple industry forums. Finally, the Managing Consultant-Grid Transformation is expected to provide assistance on discovering, pursuing, and supporting Business Development activities within North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transmission planning and operations strategy and solutions focused on coordinated operations, infrastructure resilience, and reliability assessments

  • Lead competitive intelligence and infrastructure advisory services throughout North America

  • Renewable, storage, and DER interconnection analyses

  • Impact assessment of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other federal and state energy policies

  • Support for discovering pursuing BD opportunities

What You Will Need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering

  • 5+ years working industry experience or equivalent excluding internships, co-ops, or fellowships

  • Familiar with FERC, NERC and state regulatory requirements and processes

  • In-depth knowledge of transmission and distribution systems from a planning and operations standpoint

  • Demonstrated experience as a consultant (external/Internal) or management consulting in the utilities industry to include experience working directly with clients

  • Ability to travel

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Due to nature of contracts, US citizenship restrictions apply

  • Must currently reside in the Unites States

What Would Be Nice To Have :

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Working knowledge of ISO/RTO operations and functions

  • Familiarity with transmission development, including competitive development

  • Resource interconnection and expansion planning practices and protocols

The annual salary range for this position is $85,600.00-$171,200.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
