Your Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Innovation Architect for John Deere Davenport Works located in Davenport, Iowa you will:

  • Lead line design enhancements for automation and autonomous material delivery

  • Develop and execute plans for enabling modular assembly

  • Lead master layout planning to identify and clear 20% floor space, including coordination of moves for automation implementation plans and executing change management

  • Develop and execute plans to synchronize the factory capable for 2-shift assembly while maintaining operations for 2-shift paint and 3-shift fabrication

What Skills You Need

  • 1 or more years Manufacturing and/or operations experience

  • Knowledge of process management principles, tools, and integration

  • Skill in business plan development

  • Understanding of production systems; Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, Kanban, Demand Flow Technology

  • Understanding of quality management principles, tools, and processes

  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with automation in manufacturing (Design For automated Manufacturing, processes, technology, innovation)

  • Previous experience in developing and managing capital and expense allocation

  • Project management experience including plan development, budget management, team management, requirements gathering, delivery and deployment

  • Cross functional work experience in multiple areas, i.e., accounting, product engineering, quality, manufacturing operations, warehousing / distribution, production employee supervision, supply management, marketing, Human Resources, industrial engineering, etc. (Experience in two areas)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP) and the Deere Production System


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
