Job Description


The Senior Director for MedDrive Innovation is responsible for managing Prime’s Trade Relations program(s) for medical strategies or pharmaceutical manufacturers and all related partner/customer relationships. This position is accountable for the execution of programs and solutions that drive strategic medical product decisions, pharmaceutical manufacturer contract decisions, and related client messaging. This position is also responsible for analyzing and enhancing contract performance, negotiations, agreement execution, training of internal teams and driving outcome value to internal and external stakeholders.


  • Develop in conjunction with the AVP, VP, SVP of innovation, near term and multi-year plan for savings strategies related to MedDrive and MedicalRx drug savings opportunities.

  • Lead with AVP of MedDrive external partnership opportunities for creating savings on medical drugs, including

  • Partner internally with Prime teams to align strategies and negotiate with external partners; collaborate and provide oversight to the medical rebate annual bid process sand rebate agreement process to ensure alignment with corporate goals, performance standards and expected outcomes

  • Develop business case, and end-to-end program solutions in collaboration with internal teams for proposed strategies and represent strategies to the ELT or other stakeholders.

  • Maintain in-depth industry and competitive insights to proactively evaluate new product development opportunities, anticipate changing market needs, and identify possible enhancements; maintain and coordinate cadence of product competitive intelligence and calendar activities to bring awareness, readiness, and to establish and maintain repeatable cadence of product activities

  • Partner with the AVP Pharmaceutical Trade Relations in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and collaborate with key internal teams to create program/product value to clients, members, providers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers

  • Participate in external and internal relationships necessary to position products and solutions within the market or with pharmaceutical manufacturers

  • Represent company objectives and perspective to external partners (i.e., pharmaceutical manufacturers, clients, marketplace, medical professionals, etc.) and communicate to ensure understanding of mutual objectives

  • Ensure manufacturers’ products are brought forth internally to evaluate rebate and formulary opportunities for Prime’s business

  • Serve as a department resource for escalated client issues, contract analysis, and contract language needs in rebate contracting

  • Represent Trade Relations on committees to identify net-cost effective policy opportunities; support client alignment and adoption of strategies; assure communication with committee members

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare management or other related field of study or equivalent combination of education and/or related work experience; HS diploma or GED is required

  • 10 years of related work experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), pharmaceutical sales, analytical contracting or business development; also to include:

  • 5 years of experience with Medicaid and Medicare

  • 5 years in drug cost modeling and cost analysis

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with pharmaceutical channel supply chain and pharmaceutical economics including reimbursement, discounts, rebates through various methods of drug sourcing.

  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills

  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships at all levels within an organization

  • Expert negotiation and influencing skills

  • Strong business acumen

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, other graduate work, or equivalent training and/or experience

  • Experience within the PBM industry, Medicaid, Medicare, and health plans

  • Pharmacist / Pharm D

  • Experience with contract language and risk mitigation concepts

Minimum Physical Job Requirements

Reporting Structure

  • Reports AVP in the Pharm Trade Relations department

Potential pay for this position ranges from $156,000.00 - $249,200.00 based on location, experience and skills.
