The Product Specialist is responsible for providing weld process expertise through a technical understanding of Bernard and Tregaskiss MIG Guns to defend and grow business within strategic end user accounts. This role will act as a consultant to the field sales team by providing the technical expertise necessary to win business as part of the account planning process. Will drive growth via the presentation of ITW MIG Gun solutions that deliver customer value through documented weld process improvements. Close collaboration with all ITW welding sales personnel to identify and support large end-user conversion opportunities and defend key accounts. Must be a self-starter, aggressive, a good team player, and possess the ability to make independent decisions and follow through to completion.
This position will be based in the Central Iowa area and will cover the states of Iowa, Northern MO, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert driving welding process enhancements for ITW customers. Apply process, product, and technical expertise to convert competitive products Bernard and Tregaskiss MIG Guns and other ITW sales opportunities.
Produce productivity audits / improvements to create compelling, fact based ROI/Key Account Management Review Presentations and implement ROI solutions that focus on adoption of ITW products for key customers
Collaborative account planning with ITW Welding Sales Personnel to convert/earn end user business.
Conduct product demonstrations as necessary to demonstrate the value of ITW MIG Gun solutions and drive product conversions.
Maintain consistent verbal and written communications and key activities between ITW sales resources, distributor partners, key end users, and the ITW operating Divisions.
Provide on-going training and technical support for strategic end-users and distributor partners.
Ability to effectively manage assigned territory and prioritize through an 80/20 mindset of key accounts and activities.
Liaison with the Divisions relative to competitive positioning (value prop); innovation opportunities VOC needs
BS in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology or equivalent experience and/or degree to perform all duties mentioned above.
Minimum of 2 years prior experience in the welding industry with hands on ability to weld; manufacturing and/or fabrication experience a plus.
Strong background in Robotic, Fixed Automation and Semi-Automatic MIG Guns preferred.
Subject matter expert in manufacturing welding processes and welding variables.
Strong ability to communicate the value offering to all levels of end user management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and CRM system.
Strong communication, presentation, time management, and interpersonal skills.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector qualification preferred but not necessary.
Ability to travel overnight at least 50%.
Experience with operation of GMAW robots (i.e. Panasonic, ABB, Fanuc, and Motoman) are helpful
