Platform Product Management Director – Communications and Platform Services

Position Overview

You will serve in a leadership position helping to design and evolve the Change Healthcare Platform. This is a technical Product Management position where you will work with Platform team leadership, engineering, and enterprise architecture to build platform components and APIs/automation to support internal and external applications. You will be responsible for defining and driving product roadmap in alignment with the broader platform vision. You will play a critical role in integrating and supporting components and applications to leverage print, email, and SMS communications services, and you will partner with and appropriately integrate voice services into the communications platform. We anticipate 50x growth in volume over the coming year. You will need to manage this growth as well as plan and drive other innovative approaches to communication such as incorporating video into SMS. In this role, you will also drive a platform approach for managing user preferences – we anticipate this aspect of the role to continue to expand as we manage broader sets of information across the platform via a centralized directory. You will come in as an individual contributor, partner with your engineering and architecture counterparts, set the vision and strategy, move quickly to execution (some already in flight), and build the team and charter as appropriate.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Provide email, SMS, and print services for constituents across Change Healthcare to support their needs for notifications and communications based on end user preferences.

  • Define and drive communications capabilities/features and common user preferences in coordination with business units and platform component teams. This includes functional and non-functional features, automation capabilities, and management/manage-ability.

  • Work closely with platform and BU product managers and architects to assure appropriate platform services and stakeholder integrations.

  • Be the spokesperson and representative for your product area to customers, stakeholders, partners, and executives. Act as a leader within the company and serve as a product expert for designated set of products

  • Define the product strategy and roadmap that support business and operational needs including business requirements (with prioritized features and corresponding business justification) and product implementation

  • Define and manage support of the delivery of periodic product updates and enhancements ensuring that all internal and external facing materials are ready for release/launch

  • Manage idea generation and screening, conceptual development and testing of new product ideas/enhancements through research initiatives

  • Develop product value proposition and messaging for internal and external audiences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into written requirements.

  • Competitive and build/buy analysis

  • Run beta and pilot programs

  • Participate in the user acceptance testing for all new product features and enhancements

  • Lead the execution of product planning and design; market, business and functional requirement development; and new product implementation to enable adoption, client satisfaction, compliance with regulatory, quality, and contractual requirement

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Minimum of 8+ years broad and deep product management experience – technical background required. Experience in platforms to support email/SMS/print communications. Experience with Directory Services. Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • History of creating, developing, and growing platform products - ideally has been a product line manager for platform products in the past.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; BSCS, BSEE or equivalent, MSCS or MBA preferred.

What are the critical skills needed?

  • Demonstrated success in defining and launching products that meet and exceed business objectives

  • Must be comfortable with technology and able to earn the respect of engineers and architects

  • Experience and understanding of all aspects of product management including inbound product management (defining detailed use cases/epics, detailed requirements, and driving schedules) and outbound (pricing, go to market, messaging, sales enablement)

  • Thorough working knowledge and track record with lean and agile development processes

  • Enterprise and large enterprise segment experience

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment

  • Experience with compliance – bonus points if this has been in the healthcare arena

  • Leads from the front – leading by example and guiding with compassion

  • Internalizes the importance of setting goals and measuring progress towards those goals

  • Desire and drive to build and represent a team that leaders across the company hold up as a model to emulate

How much should I expect to travel?

  • 10%-20%

  • Employees in roles that require travel will need to be able to qualify for a company credit card or be able to use their own personal credit card for travel expenses and submit for reimbursement
