NEXANT, INC. Project (Energy) Engineer II in DES MOINES, Iowa

[Resource Innovations Inc. in Des Moines, IA seeks Project (Energy) Engineer II. Help customers reduce energy consumption and save money at their facilities by identifying potential energy savings measures, quantifying and summarizing project economics, supporting project implementation, and verifying installation. Deliver professional, high-quality engineering services and build a quick rapport with utility customers. Conduct energy assessments (both scoping- and investment-grade) at medium to large commercial and industrial facilities to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements in a variety of facility energy using systems (lighting, HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration, process heating, plastic molding or forming, motors, boilers, pumping, food processing, etc.). Write technical reports summarizing results from energy assessments to quantify project economics (energy savings, cost savings, project cost, potential incentive, simple payback, etc.). Support implementation of both prescriptive and custom energy efficiency projects. Support may include completing energy modeling, economic analysis, and/or simulation to quantify energy impacts of recommendations (using spreadsheets and/or energy modeling software), developing project scopes, summarizing implementation details, and/or explaining impacts on operations. Conduct measurement and verification (MandV) site visits to establish facility energy usage patterns, identify potential energy savings opportunities, and verify installation of energy savings projects. MandV tasks may include installing field monitoring equipment/data loggers, collecting BAS trend data, completing functional performance tests, obtaining BAS screenshots and equipment photos, and discussing project implementation with the customer and contractor. Complete high-quality deliverables that demonstrate technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project budgets and schedules. Communicate, coordinate, and assist project stakeholders and participants including program staff, contractors, and utility customers to help ensure customers are maximizing the benefits of utility programs. Act as a technical resource or internal consultant for engineers throughout the company.

[Travel: 20% domestic travel required.

[Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable and Clean Energy, or a related Energy Engineering field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a related role in the energy efficiency industry. Must also possess experience with (i) Energy savings opportunities for building energy using systems such as lighting, HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration, or process heating and cooling; (ii) Energy efficiency codes and standards such as IECC, Code of Federal Regulations, or ASHRAE 90.1; (iii) managing multiple projects/programs, budgets, deliverables, and client relations; (iv) creating energy models and economic analysis of energy efficiency projects in Microsoft Excel; (v) creating energy assessment walk through reports in Microsoft Word. Must have certifications with Professional Engineer (PE), Certificated energy Manager (C.E.M.), Certificated building Commissioning Professional (C.B.C.P.), or Certified Energy Auditor (C.E.A). Valid U.S. drivers license with a good driving record and a personal vehicle to visit customer sites.
