Principal Financial Group Retirement Sales Specialist in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Come join the Advisor support team as a Retirement Sales Specialist ! In this role you'll work in partnership with the sales team including Internal Wholesalers, and Field Sales Reps to generate and manage pipeline, close sales, and develop mutually profitable advisor and third-party administrator relationships!

Here are a few examples of things you’ll do:

  • Responsible for internal sales activities for Full-Service Accumulation.

  • Educate and consult with advisors and third-party administrators on successful methods of prospecting, marketing, and selling retirement plans.

  • Develop excellent relationships with advisors and third-party administrators.

  • Evaluate and price prospective business to ensure profitability and suitability to client needs.

  • Prepare advisors to deliver sales presentations to prospective clients.

Who You Are

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or 8 years of equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of relevant job experience.

  • Knowledge of retirement plans designs and regulations, retail, and institutional investment products, etc… is preferred.

  • Previous experience working in a sales capacity is highly desired

  • Successful Registration as an Investment Company Products/Variable contracts Limited Representative (FINRA Series 6 or equivalent and FINRA Series 63) within 5 months of employment.

  • Resident Life and Health appointment must be attained within 4 months of employment.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Outstanding oral and written communication, training, and presentation skills

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and mathematical calculation skills

  • Self-starter - Work independently with little direction

  • Excellent Teammate

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$20.84 - $39.81 / hour

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Location

This role offers in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), work arrangements. You'll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors. Management reserves the right to adjust the days required in office. This role requires you to live in Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC, Denver, CO or the Bethesda, MD areas.
