The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) is seeking a highly organized self-starter for a Secretary 2 position. The IUB is a quasi-judicial agency that regulates public utilities in Iowa. This position performs secretarial and administrative work of varying scope and complexity.
This position will review and create legal binders for IUB proceedings, providing daily administrative support to the Customer Service manager, drafting professional correspondence to external parties, and receiving phone calls and complaints from various utility customers. The successful candidate will make arrangements and organize logistics for public meetings and hearings. This position will assist with organizing and directing workflow, managing daily priorities, including proofreading correspondence and legal filings.
Must be able to travel within the state of Iowa and represent the Board in a professional manner with outside parties.
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and have experience with current office technology, equipment and programs. The candidate should also be able to interact with the public and handle customer calls and inquiries over the phone. This position offers the opportunity to learn and understand legal filings and proceedings with the Board; legal experience is not required to apply.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to two years of full-time general office work, one year of which must have involved secretarial or related administrative support duties;
post high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely related curriculum may be substituted for the required experience on a month-for-month basis;
completion of thirty (30) semester (or equivalent) hours of undergraduate college level course work may be substituted for the one year of required general office experience;
certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience;
employees withcurrentcontinuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of one year of full-time work as a Secretary 1.
