Principal Financial Group Senior Accountant/Analyst- Real Estate in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Principal's Asset Management- Real Estate team is hiring for a Senior Accountant/Senior Accounting Analyst to be responsible for Private Debt fund reporting. In this position, you will collaborate with business leaders to shape strategic decisions while delivering crucial financial reporting, building strong vendor relationships, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with partner vendors offering systems solutions, valuation services, leverage, and audit services.

  • Evaluate accounting and tax implications during investment structuring and fund development.

  • Create and present financial reports and analyses to the team and senior management.

  • Provide hands-on guidance and management to support private fund operations, including reporting, analysis, and presentations.

  • Assist in fundraising efforts by conducting diligence sessions with current and potential clients.

  • Support new client structures and fund formation activities across various functions.

  • Manage credit/leverage facilities for leveraged structures, including modeling and compliance with vendors.

  • Coordinate audit, tax, and regulatory matters across fund structures.

  • Ensure timely provision of financials and required information to fund administrators, valuation service providers, and other vendors.

  • Lead financial reporting activities to meet regulatory requirements, including SEC reporting.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required

  • CPA or other applicable certifications preferred

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Financial Audit experience

  • Real Estate background and private fund reporting, including SEC filing, is a strong plus

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$101000 - $126000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
