WHAT TO EXPECT

Located in Iowa or a surrounding area you will be working remotely on with our engineering customers in the field and helping design products that fit into their applications!

  • You'll be working with the Industrial Product Application Engineering team and reporting to the Manager of Application Engineering.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will be working with customers on a variety of product applications like ATV's, skid steer loaders and combines and the list goes on!
  • You will help troubleshoot issues that arise with customer products and help design and recommend solutions using Gates products.
  • Your work days vary, from being hands-on out in the field working on products with our customers to spending time in the office working on new product applications and solutions.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Providing engineering service to customers and clients in the proper application and selection fluid power (hydraulics) products
  • Working cooperatively with North American Field Sales, Product Line Managers, and the Marketing Team to achieve organizational success
  • Analyzing application requirements, providing failure analysis, selecting components, and making recommendations to meet system requirements
  • Troubleshooting any questions customers pose via phone, email, and in-person. Building strong relationships is crucial to success in this role!

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of progressive engineering experience OR 5-10 years of progressive engineering experience, required.
  • Eager to be hands-on working with our customers, engineers, sales, and marketing teams!
  • Engineering discipline with a focus on Mechanical and Fluid Power systems, preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills - coupled with the ability to maintain and generate product application literature, media, and technical articles.
  • Ability to travel to customers, plants and conferences as required (10 to 50%). (This will resume pending current COVID-19 safety regulations)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
  • Fluid Power experience, preferred
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

PAY and BENEFITS

  • Full-Time

  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled and 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
