The role.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our collaborative team, working on the No.1 selling medium voltage drive worldwide and in North America. The Application Engineer position will follow customer requirements, specifications, and proposals to customize air and water cooled VFDs for the customer’s application.

Responsibilities :

  • Implement (individually or as member or leader of an engineering team) customized production orders under minimum supervision, using product design guides and guidelines, industry standards and best engineering practices.

  • Provide engineering expertise to drafters/designers on customized production orders.

  • Provide engineering support for Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Field Service and Quality Assurance groups during project cycle up to and including commissioning.

  • The engineer will be responsible to provide technical support during the startup of the new product for field service personnel, after factory testing has concluded.

  • Engineer will work with customers, sale reps, vendors, program managers, and field service personnel.

  • Provide technical content for Customized Product manuals.

  • Attend or lead design reviews both internally and with customers to resolve technical and programmatic issues.

  • Provide support to other company functions during the manufacturing process to bring designs to completion. These functions include operations, procurement, planning, program management, test, outside vendors, etc.

  • Provide support to customers and the Customer Service group to maintain existing designs and resolve customer field issues.

  • Participate and perform action items as a team member.

Your profile.

  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience with direct experience in power electronics, VFDs (AC/DC), and electrical machinery. Field service/engineering background a plus.

  • Must have general knowledge of industrial controls, including relay logic, etc. working in an engineering role for a large electrical equipment manufacturer.

  • Must understand variable frequency drives and their applications.

  • Ability to read schematics and interpret customer specifications.

  • Strong organization and excellent time management skills.

  • Possess a familiarity with and follow all engineering policies and procedures.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external contacts.

  • Digital literacy required, including Microsoft Office

  • Proven ability to learn Customers’ processes and incorporate relevant improvements into design.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience :

  • Medium Voltage Experience with motors, drives or switchgear.

  • Familiar with PLC logic.

  • Knowledge and use of EPLAN drawing software

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Knowledge of Teamcenter

  • Working in a high paced production environment

The pay range for this position is $71,300 - $122,300. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
