Nelnet is becoming a significant force in renewable energy as it continues to diversify and vertically integrate its various services. Nelnet started as a significant solar tax equity investor and now has the expertise to develop, own, and operate its own projects. Nelnet has key relationships and a reputable brand within the higher-education and C&I spaces. Nelnet will utilize these customer relationships, capital market’s expertise, and renewable energy experience to develop, manage, and own renewable energy projects. We believe this combination of reputation, experience, capital, and relationships lends itself to becoming a formidable, distributed generation solar developer for years to come.
Nelnet is seeking an experienced renewable energy and solar professional for the role of Senior Manager, Operations to join our tax equity co-investor platform and capital markets teams. You will be responsible for assisting in relationship management for our tax equity co-investors and providing operational support for our distributed generation solar business development division. Responsibilities will include: internal project management, operational oversite of tax equity relationships, assisting in the creation of new financing products for solar and renewable energy systems, running data rooms, tracking deal progress, reporting to internal and external partners, overseeing investor funding requests and reporting requirements, and review of various real estate related documents. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in tax equity or capital markets operations with 5+ years experience.
Oversee operational aspects of tax equity capital raising and capital markets.
Project manage new financial products and co-investor reporting.
Coordinate activities with legal, underwriting, marketing, and sales team.
Develop and execute on strategy for continuous improvement of our business development efforts.
Act as a thought leader that can manage multiple projects.
Drive the execution and delivery of new business development and relationship management projects.
Manage follow-up with stakeholders to ensure a project’s completion.
Prepare and/or review sales contracts and financing arrangements.
Oversee document preparation and completion (e.g. contracts, close-outs, punch lists, etc.)
Create and evaluate project reporting; provide timely and accurate project status reporting to management
Continually seek and capitalize on opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
Assist with new business pursuits
Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years’ experience in tax equity or capital markets operations. This individual has a broad understanding of renewable energy and tax equity. Possesses strong leadership qualities and the ability to prioritize and management multiple projects. Works independently and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Skill to immerse oneself into the client’s environment.
