Global Merchant Services, the merchant network of American Express, acquires and maintains relationships with millions of merchants around the world who welcome American Express-branded Cards. U.S. Merchant Acquisition and Supplier Enablement (MASE) is an organization comprised of 140 professionals dedicated to signing and enabling U.S. merchants for AXP Card acceptance. Merchant Acquisition contributes over $5B in annual new charge volume to the U.S. merchant business; we are focused on driving growth in B2B spend by enabling our Global Commercial Services clients to spend on to the AXP network.

The Sales Enablement Team, within the MASE group, provides tools, technology, and consultative support for prioritized initiatives and select prospects to optimize the performance of our front-line sales team. In addition, the team is responsible for onboarding new merchants and managing a strong governance program and culture focused on control and compliance.

The Senior Manager - Sales Enablement will lead a team of three implementation analysts to quickly and efficiently onboard new merchants to the American Express network. S/he is responsible for partnering across the organization to decrease the time from signing to first transaction, especially with merchants who are new to plastic acceptance. S/he will also optimize MASE’s partnership with Risk, working across the organization to onboard merchants and minimize disruption from submission monitoring. This position will be highly visible to sales leadership and is critical to driving results for the Merchant Acquisition and Supplier Enablement team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for identifying opportunities for improvement and be comfortable partnering across the organization.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Use of analytics to identify opportunities for process improvement in the activation of new merchant accounts; partner across various groups to prioritize process improvements and execute their implementation

  • Partner with GMS Risk for all risk-related processes and escalations associated with new signings

  • Provide ongoing support for a variety of MASE/GM&NS projects and initiatives

  • Key contact for Merchant Pricing on various strategic projects

  • Manage, coach & develop three virtual Activation Specialists (B30)

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and comfort challenging the status quo

  • Capability to collaborate across multiple lines of business, various stakeholders, and constituencies

  • Proven leadership skills for the success and development of three virtual Activation Specialists (B30)

  • Keen analytic skills: comfort with structuring and executing complex data analysis projects to identify opportunities for improvement across the organization

  • Established history of building and leveraging relationships with internal and external business partners

  • Excellent time management, project management and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills – ability to effectively message across all levels of the organization

  • Drive change management in a remote field-based organization, without authority or supervision

  • Ability to drive results and manage multiple initiatives in parallel

  • Expert level MS Office skills a plus, PowerPoint and Excel

  • BA/BS degree highly preferred and a MINIMUM 5 years of relevant experience
