Job Summary

In this role, your goal is to position Wellmark as a leader in health and wellbeing, by creating and enhancing products and services that will increase our market position, ultimately improving the overall health and wellbeing of our members in Iowa and South Dakota. You will take on a leadership role in defining product and pricing strategies for assigned pro duct initiatives and collaborate with business stakeholders across the organization to ensure expertise and education is built around our product portfolio. You will utilize your expertise of customers, employers, distribution channels , and the competitive landscape to identify potential new products, enhancements to products, or improvements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience

  • 4+ years of product development, product management, or similar experience that reflects knowledge of the product development lifecycle, strategic planning, and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a corporate environment.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data, solve problems, and independently make decisions. Must be able to connect the dots and draw conclusions from data in order to provide recommendations that support corporate strategies.

  • Willingness to approach problems from different perspectives in order to produce creative, innovative solutions.

  • Understanding of customer needs and ability to translate these into competitive products and services.

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo while maintaining relationships. Ability to quickly find common ground and solve problems. Viewed as a collaborative, trustworthy business partner.

  • Ability to coach, mentor, train, and provide feedback.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to share insights or recommendations with stakeholders, including senior leadership. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations. Group facilitation and interpersonal skills.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

a. Drive and execute planning and development activities for assigned project initiatives. Will develop a go-to market plan that drives and conveys strategic business objectives through from launch to ongoing product management. Lead and manage the process of analyzing and researching product pillars for recommendations for strategic product planning.

b. Utilize market insights and the annual planning process to deploy products that meet the needs of our current and future customers. Collaborate with Market Insights to identify data needs to help optimize product portfolio and product performance.

c. In collaboration with internal stakeholders identify and evaluate new product opportunities new products, enhancements to existing products, potential partners to increase sales, retention and profitability and that are focused on impacting the member experience and meeting the goals of the client . Obtain agreement on priority of product ideas by securing buy-in from senior leadership within sales and marketing.

d. In collaboration with actuarial resources and segment performance, identify and evaluate pricing strategy for products. Obtains leadership buy-in as appropriate.

e. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure product strategies are aligned to our corporate initiatives.

f. Partner with Legal, Compliance and the Regulatory and Compliance Manager to understand complex health insurance regulations and legislative activity and determine impacts to product and service portfolio, including ensuring regulatory compliance.

g. Through developed partnerships with vendors, customers and/or other external parties, strive to develop and offer products and ancillary services that meet defined strategic objective including contract negotiation, vendor evaluation, etc.

h. Serve as the business subject matter expert and/or business owner for projects related to product development or enhancements. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure products and strategic objectives are delivered timely and within budget.

i . Actively research and stay current with industry issues, competitor products, and apply knowledge of the health and wellbeing industry and Wellmark's marketplace to drive recommendations.

j. Other duties as assigned.
