We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to provide protein biochemistry expertise as part of an inter-disciplinary protein engineering team of the Input Trait Discovery group. The successful candidate will conduct the research experiments, maintain the records, and communicate the results.

The Protein Engineering Optimization Division is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join a team developing cutting-edge biotechnological solutions for our early R&D program area, working in a highly collaborative group. The ideal candidate will be fluent in protein biochemistry, with background and experience working with various classes of proteins. This technical position requires bench work as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to analyze experimental results, present findings, and brainstorm new ideas. The position also requires teamwork, tenacity and attention to detail. BS/BA degree with 5-10 years of research experience for RA position
MS degree with 1-3 years of research experience for SRA position
Competencies and Qualifications:
Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related biological science field, with 5+ years of research expertise in protein biochemistry (expression, and purification strategies)
Experience with troubleshooting and optimizing protein expression, solubility, and stability
Experience in a variety of protein purification techniques including but not limited to: Affinity chromatography, SEC using AKTA, Anion/Cation exchange chromatography
Expertise with a range of analytical techniques in protein biochemistry
Experience in protein modeling and protein structure-function analysis and software a plus.
Interest in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and willingness to brainstorm on topics outside your area of research
Ability to work independently, and as part of a wider team
Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Interest in writing proposals/grants and participating in the formation of new programs to solve the nation's most challenging problems
