We are seeking a creative, driven, and experienced professional to lead internal communications activities for Wabtec. The Senior Specialist, Internal Communications will be responsible for Wabtec’s global internal communications platforms and content. In this role, they will create and evolve a strategy to align, implement, and evolve our platforms and content to deliver relevant and timely communications that educate employees about Wabtec’s Mission, Vision, Values, and business strategy and inspire employee engagement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of internal communication strategies, ensuring alignment with the overarching Wabtec communications and business strategy.

  • Write, edit, and produce content across multiple internal channels (e.g., global intranet, newsletters, SharePoint, All-Hands Meetings, etc.) to deliver relevant and timely communications that educate employees about Wabtec’s Mission, Vision, Values, and business strategy and inspire employee engagement.

  • Partner with colleagues across the Global Communications team, particularly business group and regional leads, to ensure message alignment and generate content ideas.

  • Oversee global intranet and partner with Global Communications team and key stakeholders to provide guidance on their “pages”; This includes creating a unified and consistent approach (and training) for key stakeholders to publish content directly.

  • Develop a streamlined process to solicit and publish articles from across the company and establish best practices for quality control of editorial content.

  • Partner with IT to evolve the content delivery strategy and lead ongoing efforts optimize and enhance the user experience.

  • Assess, leverage, and continuously refine multiple formats for content delivery (e.g., infographics, digital signage, photography, videos, and newsletters).

  • Oversee the publication of weekly employee newsletters; Assist regional leads in tailoring content for language needs/local considerations.

  • Generate and execute ideas for original articles and series; Create a combination of push and pull content that provides steady rhythm of diverse and globally relevant “destination reading” on the intranet.

  • Analyze and communicate relevant metrics to demonstrate effectiveness of internal communications channels and drive ongoing engagement.

  • Collaborate with business group and regional leads, and the entire Global Communications Team to build effective relationships in a matrixed environment; Support diverse and dispersed stakeholders and initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college

  • 5+ years professional experience in Communications or related field

  • 5+ years of internal communications/writing experience

  • Flexibility and adaptability; Willing to serve in multiple communication capacities based on environmental changes and organizational need

  • Exceptional editorial skills (e.g., writing, editing, and proofreading)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in the areas of Communications, Journalism, English, or Liberal Arts

  • 7+ years professional experience in Communications or related field

  • Experience in technology, transportation, or industrial sector

  • Experience in global, highly matrixed organizations

  • Proven ability to break down siloes and collaborate across geographies and business groups to drive effective solutions

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Ability to influence, counsel, and guide employees at all levels

  • Ability to shape and edit team members’ and peers’ content in a productive, positive, results-driven manner

  • Outstanding project management skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with high standards for quality

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and tight deadlines

  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, influential communications

  • Experience launching and/or leading enterprise an internal communications platform

  • Ability to write across multiple channels and write messages that reflect an understanding of audiences’ needs

  • Strong presentation skills

Other:

Ability to travel to Pittsburgh, PA (Wabtec HQ) as needed

10-20% of travel expected

Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Chicago, IL preferred, open to remote locations in the US, with the exception of Colorado.
