Meta Silicon Power Engineer in Des Moines, Iowa


Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of Virtual and Augmented Reality require custom silicon. Facebook Silicon team is driving the state of the art forward with breakthrough work in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. Our chips will enable AR & VR devices where our real and virtual world will mix and match throughout the day. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistor, through architecture, firmware, and algorithms.We’re looking for a Silicon Power Engineer who will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers. The ideal candidate will understand the full spectrum of silicon power modeling, analysis, and projections from algorithms on generic compute units to custom silicon IP blocks, traditional benchmarking, and SoC and System level implications.

Required Skills:

Silicon Power Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Make trade-offs between general purpose and custom compute mechanisms, model workloads, and create detailed cost/benefit analysis

  2. Work across disciplines, brainstorm big ideas, build new methodologies, juggle/coordinate multiple initiatives, drive a concept into a prototype and ultimately guide the transition into a high-volume consumer product

  3. Detailed modeling, analysis and optimization of silicon use case power that includes functions such as image compute and CPU/GPU benchmarking

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience working on power for production silicon

  2. BS EE/CS or equivalent experience working within silicon power domain

  3. Experience with creating power model and estimating power for different IPs, working with IP owners in defining IP level targets and knowledge of use case power analysis

  4. Experience employing scientific methods to debug, diagnose and drive the resolution of cross-disciplinary system issues

  5. Knowledge of power trade-offs in design and back end implementation

  6. Experience with PT-PX, Power Artist or other power analysis/simulation tools

  1. Experience with CPU/GPU/Custom ASIC early power projections and modeling with feedback from silicon

  2. Experience in SystemC, trace based, power modeling

  3. Experience with custom IP block power estimates

  4. Experience in technology node scaling and projections
