The Role

The role will work in partnership with our Sales & Customer Success teams, working alongside a Technical Solutions team where you will learn and contribute to our customers’ success. As a Solution Support Lead, you will have the opportunity to grow your technical and sales skills while contributing to the growth of our enterprise customers as they embrace the 4th Industrial Revolution. Leveraging your understanding of Lumen systems, processes and tools, you will independently interact with both customers and internal Lumen teams to ensure customer solution details and service attributes are appropriately and accurately documented to support customer success through their entire journey with Lumen.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Customer Engagement/Meetings: Leads and facilitates customer meetings via collaboration tools and sometimes in person. Independently uncover, scope and document customer business objectives. Creation of solution design documentation during sales cycle which includes responding to and communicating with customers to ensure order accuracy. Work in partnership or independently to prepare and deliver technical proposals and presentations with the appropriate level of business acumen for the audience. Provide responses to solution and technology questions when needed. RFP/RFI responses, solution demonstrations, and technical workshops. Deliver findings including key pain points, proposed solutions to meet business needs, and ROI where applicable. Contribute to development of technical sales strategy.

  • Customer Success: Develop strong customer relationships and act as a customer advocate within Lumen to ensure delivery of an exceptional customer experience. Work on the most complex solutions involving services from multiple Lumen product towers, making decisions about the best approach for driving customer satisfaction and a great customer experience.

  • Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback that contributes to ongoing process and customer experience improvement initiatives. Teamwork through mentoring, coaching, and peer support for Solution Support Associates and Engineers in support of special projects and further development of team attributes. Act as a change agent providing data driven feedback to sales, customer success, product management, and service delivery to Lumen leaders in order to improve Lumen processes, product solutions, and overall customer experience and satisfaction.

  • Lifecycle / Ecosystem Partnership: Support customer success and local sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities, engage customers to address aspects of the data lifecycle. Collaborate with Client Success Executive/Manager, Solution Sales Overlay teams, and Product Management to deliver the appropriate solution and establish credibility and trust with the customer.

  • Training/Education: Expert level proficiency in the various tools required to perform successful research, tasks, and order submission. Develop and mentor others in support engineering, sales, and customer success on technical aspects of tools, features, availability, and other elements of our Lumen product solutions to fit customer’s needs. Provide technical product demonstrations required to both internal and external audiences as per the Solution Support Lead responsibilities.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • In depth experience as a Solution Support Engineer or other technical Sales Engineer role, demonstrating expert level proficiency of Lumen tools, products, and processes.

  • Technical Skills: Excellent understanding of information technology, communications, or security concepts and general knowledge of technical terminology or industry concepts related to Lumen solutions is required. Must possess a willingness and appetite to learn new concepts and subjects and have the initiative to invest in ongoing professional development through self-study. Must have knowledge of Lumen service portfolio, processes, and systems.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must build relationships over the phone and in person. Must have a proactive communication style ensuring timely status of projects to account team and customer. Must develop relationships and communicate with customer technical staff.

  • Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills. Must work through complex issues with a methodical approach. Will need to graphically depict Lumen services and customer solutions in a clear and compelling manner.

  • Work Style: Must be able to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Act as a peer/mentor to Solution Support Associates and Engineers, and other internal employees.

  • Required ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be able to reprioritize as needed or as directed to respond to changing business requirements. Must be very detail oriented.

  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of collaboration and office applications (Microsoft Office, Visio, PowerPoint preferred). Must have expert with working knowledge of internal company systems and applications.

  • Business Acumen: Demonstrates understanding of business, sales, financial principals, Lumen business goals, and sales targets.

  • Skills: Personal accountability, professional appearance and demonstrated time management skills.

  • Ability to travel as needed (Approx. 10%)
