Principal Sr Associate Accountant in Des Moines, Iowa
We are actively seeking a Senior Associate Accountant to join Principal’s Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) External Financial Reporting team. The External Financial Reporting team is responsible for the US GAAP & Statutory financials, multiple regulatory filings, application of emerging guidance, as well as SOX controls and reporting. This team is also the product owner of a financial data warehouse that is used to provide granular and management level reporting on our many products and services.
As a Senior Associate Accountant, you will participate in the monthly and quarterly close process as well as various control activities for multiple lines of business: Retirement, Bank, and Trust. In addition, you will be involved in responsibilities that support financial reporting and Finance leadership through business projects.
This role requires strong collaboration across the team as well as other business units. The ideal candidate will enjoy the opportunity to challenge the status quo and search for opportunities to leverage innovation for efficiencies.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience required
Minimum of 2 years experience
CPA or other applicable certifications preferred
Critical thinking, process improvement, strong communication skills, agility, and self-motivation are key.
Basic understanding of SQL programming language or SAS Enterprise Guide preferred
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
$51000 - $98400 / year
Work Environment
This role offers the ability for in-office, hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
