About the Role:

Confluent is seeking a strategic and experienced professional with strong business and financial acumen to join our team as the Senior Director of Sales Compensation. This leader will be responsible for all aspects of sales compensation strategy and design with the goal of incentivizing high-performing sales teams, attracting and retaining top talent, and driving revenue and customer growth.

What You Will Do:

  • Use a data-driven approach to develop a sales compensation strategy that is simple to understand, transparent, and uniquely addresses each territory type across Cloud, on-prem, and hybrid

  • Manage annual sales compensation planning process with regular steering committee meetings to gain senior leadership feedback and alignment

  • Benchmark competitive practices to ensure sales plans drive results and help attract and retain top sales talent

  • Create and deliver plan communications and enablement in a way that builds trust and excitement

  • Collaborate with finance, HR, and others to transform and optimize the design, governance, and administration of sales compensation plans

  • Monitor and analyze all aspects of the sales compensation programs to gauge the effectiveness of the plan designs

  • Oversee administration of sales compensation plans and plan exception requests

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit to ensure design and maintenance of SOX-Compliant comp administration processes

  • Evaluate Technology/Tools and Processes required to scale Comp Plan administration, including Xactly implementation

  • Develop expertise on source data for commission calculations, including raw consumption data from billing systems

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Preferred)

  • 15+ years experience in Sales Ops and/ or Sales Compensation

  • Experience with Cloud consumption, on-prem subscription, and Hybrid sales compensation plans

  • Strong abstract thinker able to apply complex concepts across a variety of situations

  • Advanced analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to develop scenario analysis and identify trends and levers in attainment data

  • Experience selecting and implementing sales compensation systems

  • Experience creating solid cross-functional partnerships across Finance, Revenue, Legal, Business Systems/IT, and other Sales Ops teams

  • Experience drafting commercial terms in partnership with Legal teams

  • Proven project management experience; successfully leading and completing projects

  • Experience working with remote sales and business partner teams

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate information across teams, roles, and levels

We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $221,300 - $265,500 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
