What you'll do

The Application Development Support Team has an exciting position focused on enabling developer and engineering productivity and velocity. We are looking for a servant leader with strong technical aptitude who has the desire and ability to champion new technologies within our IT areas to support and grow Principal's Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tooling and practices.

In this position, you will be part of a team responsible for building, maintaining, monitoring, testing, documenting, analyzing, and providing technical direction and support primarily for Principal's CI/CD pipeline toolsets and systems infrastructure. Having access to all of Principals platforms provides a unique opportunity to grow as an engineer. We typically work in small teams that collaborate on common problems across products and focus areas. As a result, the exposure to this broad set of problems provides diverse technical challenges. We are looking for people who are versatile, display leadership qualities and bring fresh ideas as we continue to push technology forward.

Here are few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

  • Partner with CI/CD team to design solutions related to CI/CD pipeline tooling and integrations.

  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to effectively solve problems.

  • Work with the CI/CD Product Owner and define and drive Strategy/vision with the BUs

  • Work with the CI/CD Product Owner to create/prioritize features needed to progress the product to target state

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with a preference in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) related field or equivalent work experience (6 years of experience equates to an Associate’s degree when defining “equivalent work experience”)

  • 6+ years of IT experience

  • 2+ years’ experience working within the software development pipeline (DevOps)

Additional preferred technical experience:

  • Work experience programming in .Net, Java, JavaScript, Python, Test Automation or scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, etc.)

  • Formal or informal leadership Experience

  • Experience with continuous integration practices and automated testing (e.g. Cucumber, jUnit).

  • Experience with development, build and deployment tooling, and server administration (e.g. Bamboo, Maven, Git, Jenkins, XL R/D, UCD).
