Heska Technician III, Instrumentation in Des Moines, Iowa

The Instrumentation Technician III will unpack, label, test, calibrate, and re-pack instrumentation as required by the production schedule. Maintain accurate records for the testing of each instrument. Maintain cGMP’s in the production area. Remove waste generated by the production lines. Assure that all instruments put through production meet the outlined quality standards. Adhere to all company safety guidelines. Maintain bi-weekly timecards for payroll purposes. Adhere to all issued Standard Operating Procedures as outlined in SOP training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instrumentation Production

  • Inspects, tests, labels and packages instrumentation products.

  • Ensures production products contain the proper components and quantities.

  • Maintains quality records of tested instruments.

  • Maintains production areas in compliance with good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by disposing of hazardous wastes as needed.

  • Maintains cGMP’s compliance in the production area to include sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of all surface areas as outlined by cGMP training.

  • Removal of waste generated by the production area to include all recycled corrugated and miscellaneous trash, and disposing of each in the appropriate manner.

  • Operating a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Maintaining bi-weekly time cards for payroll purposed to include logging overtime, holidays, sick leave, and personal time.

  • Assist in the training of new personnel as well as temporary help in the department.

Process Returns and Reworks

  • Process returns as they are received. This includes detailing items that have been returned and requesting credit memos in SalesForce as well as getting the returned product to the proper area to be reworked or destroyed.

  • Process Instrumentation reworks on a weekly basis. This includes retesting returned instruments and components that have been returned and will be resold.

  • Process consumable products that must be destroyed and ensure that these products are clearly labeled and taken to the DA cage in a timely manner.

Provide backup for Instrumentation Supervisor

  • Ability to open and close manufacturing orders.

  • Ability to audit batch records and release labeled products from Packaging Department into finished goods.

  • Ability to perform QA functions on incoming raw materials.

  • Ability to answer any Instrumentation related inquiries as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Two-year degree in Science or Electronics technology or equivalent preferred

  • 2 years-related experience and knowledge of electronic instrumentation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to troubleshoot errors and problems encountered during the production process.

  • Must have good communication skills.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to perform essential tasks in Great Plains and SalesForce operating systems.

  • Ability to use company email proficiently.

  • Ability to work in and assist in the development of a team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 65 pounds in a repetitive manner.

  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Typical lab/office environment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
