Wellmark - Des Moines Trainer II – Operations in Des Moines, Iowa
What’s the role? You will deliver comprehensive training to multiple audiences throughout Wellmark. You will design and develop material from scratch, and are able to train on multiple content levels. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating training materials, guidelines, and additional documentation on a variety of different topics and systems. You must be familiar with adult learning principles and accelerated learning techniques as well as the ability to use multiple applications necessary to design, develop, deliver, and monitor training. Last but not least, you must know how to command a room and have strong facilitation skills.

Work from home order: The effects of COVID-19 have moved our employees to a work from home environment. This role will start out fully remote, but you will be expected to work from our office for a couple days per week upon our return. However, you will have flexibility to still work from home part of the week. The time in which we expect to return to our office is undetermined, but will take place when it is safe to do so.
Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
4+ years of related work experience including experience designing, developing and facilitating classroom training and may also include alternative delivery methods such as face-to-face and/or e-learning.
Experience in business administration, insurance, marketing financial services, health care, or related industry.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and modify communications and/or training to audiences of various sizes.
Demonstrated knowledge of training competencies to include knowledge and applied training of adult learning principles with the ability to introduce multiple and effective learning techniques for each situation.
Exceptional presentation, planning and organizing skills, understanding of group dynamics, questioning techniques, creativity in meeting objectives and measurements and ensuring a safe environment that allows for applied learning.
Takes prompt action to accomplish objectives; takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required and focuses on results and desired outcomes and how best to achieve them.
Effective organizational skills with ability to address multiple priorities and deadlines to achieve positive business results and customer experience.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with stakeholders to create new ideas and improve current processes.
Proven ability to translate technical information and processes into easy-to-understand training presentations.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with others to create new ideas and improve current processes.
Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work environment and to generate innovative solutions.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
This position requires travel; 15-20%

Experience coaching or mentoring
a. Consult with various stakeholders and subject matter experts SMEs to create and/or deliver training to meet the needs of Operations and organization. Through collaboration, work with SMEs and external vendors on course content to ensure training objectives and outcomes are met that the content is relevant to audience, and training sessions are delivered timely, effectively, and within budget.
b. Conduct training needs assessments to determine appropriate training delivery to Operations, the organization, and external vendors. Proactively consult with stakeholders to identify the appropriate resources and/or training aids to meet learning needs.
c. Use multiple applications to design, develop, and deliver training e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Web applications, Wellmark systems, virtual training tools, etc. Ensure the training material is updated for content and design changes. Coordinate and/or maintain training materials, supplies.
d. Coordinate, track and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs from design and delivery. Communicate to leadership the results and make recommendations for improvements.
e. Take a proactive lead to ensure that Learning and Development stays in front of the needs of the business, by understanding how to facilitate growth through training offerings.
f. Serve as a project resource on complex initiatives and share information across the team and Division as needed.
g. Ensure the successful onboarding and continued development of Operations staff. Will coach and mentor new Operations staff e.g. Customer Experience, Claims, etc. including other Trainers.
h. Other duties as assigned.
