The Role

The Vertical Programs Manager understands how to influence, drive change, create winning teams, and values impact on the business above all else. This individual will be responsible for creating vertical programs that have an immediate and long-term impact with large enterprise teams who have a mixture of different industry accounts. This individual will also effectively lead team members who interface directly with sales supported industry teams and deliver programs directly to them.

This manager will lead a team of high functioning experienced marketers and industry experts to effectively deliver messaging, content, targeting, account strategies, and tactics (ie. Programs) to Large Enterprise and Key Accounts within the targeted industries – such that the customers understand Lumen’s vertical capabilities and value and it accelerates our growth with those industry targets.

This manager will interface, influence, and support the Large Enterprise Segment and Field Marketing team as the delivery mechanism for Vertical Programs. Also, he or she will work closely with the Solutions Marketing team, the Marcom Team, and the entirety of the North America Marketing team to collaborate, integrate, and bring value to customers and sales.

What We Look For in a Candidate


  • 15 years of experience in marketing

  • 5 years of experience in technology

  • Previously managed a heterogenous team successfully with varying degrees of experience, personalities, and backgrounds

  • A leader who looks for diversity in team selection including race, ethnicity, gender, background, experience, and viewpoint

  • Has a history of leading teams to win, wins even against challenging landscape and against obstacles

  • Ability to lead executive conversations with strong personalities toward a common goal often with conflict along the way

  • Agency and budget management

  • Available for travel

  • Understanding of the current tech landscape, including Cloud, Edge, Security, SASE and application performance.

  • Loves change and is a change maker

  • Versed in customer journey mapping, outcome based messaging, and sense making.

  • Ability to analyze information, ask questions, and gain insights that lead to strategic answers.

  • Well versed in all business functions, including marketing, sales, finance, HR, operations, and IT

  • Enjoys ambiguity and can define a path forward regardless of roadblocks or challenges, is a problem solver and creative thinker.

  • Results-Oriented leader with prior successful experience in a dynamic, highly matrixed corporate environment, who is detail-oriented and has a strong focus on delivery milestones.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen effectively and communicate in a proactive fashion.

  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.

  • Understands the value of collaboration and strives for that beyond all else

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
