Summary:

Qualified candidates will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

Proven experience as a welder

Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (mig-welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch, etc.)

Knowledge of properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings

Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade

Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment

Proficient in English

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree from technical institute or a minimum of 3 years welding and fabrication experience

Working Conditions:

Shop floor environment and outdoor conditions including sometimes extreme hot/cold temperatures. Occasionally may lift heavy objects in awkward positions. May work in confined spaces

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Job Functions:

Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating or repair equipment, applying tools like mig-welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch etc

Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting the special or unusual needs, using the manufacturer specifications, calculator, measuring devices, drawings etc.

Designing and creating holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers
