[Welder/Fabricator Job Description *[Job Summary [The Welder is responsible for modifications, fabrications and assembly on hollow metal frames and doors. Knowledge of hollow metal manufacture and products is preferred (i.e. Steelcraft, Republic, Ceco, Curries). This position will also require precision, attention-to-detail, and an understanding of various welding processes.   • Modifications to metal doors and frames will be required
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, or specifications to plan layouts, assembly, and welding processes
  • Operate weld, join and cut metal components according to blueprints, diagrams, or work orders utilizing welding methods MIG and TIG, depending on the materials and job requirements
  • Grind, sand or polish metal surfaces for smooth finishes and strong joints
  • Ensure workpieces are properly aligned, secured, and meet the specified dimensions and quality standards
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of welding machines and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, and goggles to protect from heat, sparks, and fumes
  • Comply with industry standards, regulations and codes during welding operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair metal structures or components as needed
  • Maintain records of all welding work performed, including materials used and completed tasks
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs., stand for extended periods and work in various environments (indoor, outdoor, etc.)
  • Work in collaboration with Kurtz staff to ensure the successful completion of projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Completion of a certified welding training program or apprenticeship
