DescriptionJob Summary: The Wind Mechanical Technician works on a small team to achieve safe and efficient turbine maintenance. The Wind Mechanical Technician reports directly to the Resource Manager and indirectly to the Site Manager and Lead Technician when on a particular job. Responsible for performing all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on mechanical power plant equipment in safe and efficient manner for the Wind segments. Responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy machinery used mainly in power generation applications, Turbines, and Generators as directed. Is not certified to perform work inside any Cabinet/Controller without direct supervision by a certified Electrical Technician.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Follow all assigned Environmental, Health and Safety proceduresPerform mechanical maintenances, operations and upgradesVerify that the work is completed in compliance with customer's requirementsPerform work based on established work procedures.Document all work performedReport policy or procedure violationSubmit progress reportsRepair or replace partsPossess knowledge about specific activity tools and be able to use them safely.Work unsupervised on any part of an equipment maintenance project.Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobsDismantle and assemble machinery or equipmentPerform other duties as assignedTravel up to 100% of the time.Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignmentsRequired Qualifications and Experience:Minimum 6 months to 1- year experience in wind turbine maintenance proceduresMust have a valid driver's licenseAbility to become LOTO certifiedExperience with repair and or rebuild of large industrial equipment.English proficiency RequiredDesired Characteristics:Strong mechanical and electrical background preferredHigh level computer skillsAutonomy and sense of initiativeAbility to adapt quickly to a dynamic environmentEffective Communicator-works well in team environmentAbility to follow instructionsStrong organizational skillsWillingness to learnPhysical RequirementsCandidates must be able to climb a 300 feet wind tower multiple times per day.Candidates must be able to walk across the hub and, in the event of an emergency, repel off.Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 300+ feet.Must meet specific weight requirements of tower ladders under OSHA standards of 250 to 300 lbs. max, including personal protective equipment (approx. 30-35lbs).Must be comfortable working in confined space(s).Must be able to see and move throughout site to resolve work problems and facilitate processes; repetitive motion activities may be involved.Frequent climbing, walking, and standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting.Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs.Successful completion of the climb test and tower rescue training.About FieldCore:FieldCore, a GE company, is an independent, industrial field services organization focused on World-Class Execution across the power generation and oil and gas industries.
