Title: Functional Software PV&V Tech Lead - 75523
As the Functional Software PV&V Tech Lead located in Dubuque, IA, you will be responsible for setting the direction of John Deere’s C&F Functional Software PV&V team. In addition to ensuring the safety and quality of our machine software, this role includes developing team members, determining testing strategies, implementing test environments, and outlining the future of our software validation strategy.
The Functional Software PV&V team members are the domain experts specializing in a wide range of our machine functions including drivetrain, grade control, operator interface, emerging technologies, etc. They are responsible for ensuring the software functionality which is integrated with multiple machine applications. The functional team works across a variety of test environments from software in the loop (SIL), hardware in the loop (HIL) through on machine testing.
The core responsibilities include:
Set the direction of John Deere’s C&F Functional Software PV&V team
Ensure delivery, quality, and coverage of testing activities for the C&F Division Functional SW PV&V Team
Lead the development and deployment of various test environments (SIL and HIL)
Develop testing workflows for the different types of features and functional areas within the division
Develop best practices for verification and validation techniques for the division
Provide resource needs to support the C&F Division SW PV&V Functional Team initiatives
Provide team leadership for supporting domestic and internationally located engineers
The core responsibilities also include:
Coach and mentor early career software PV&V, systems, and embedded software engineers
Own the validation and verification activities for a functional area within the division
Analyze and approve software requirements
Plan, coordinate, and perform testing in SIL, HIL environments, and on machine
Work with software suppliers in the development and testing of software solutions
Work with the stakeholders to resolve issues found during testing
What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)
Experience defining, developing, or testing mechanical systems, electrical systems, controls, or software
Demonstrated problem-solving skills to analyze and solve technical problems, including troubleshooting software, electrical and mechanical issues
Demonstrated project leadership and decision making
Demonstrated team mentoring and coaching
Ability to work in a self-directed mode
What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)
Significant knowledge and experience in software testing, tools, and processes such as unit testing, HIL, SIL, black box, boundary conditions etc.
Experience with embedded software including C/C+
- Experience with electrical hardware, software, and their interaction with mechanical systems
Experience with automotive/aviation/off road mobile equipment software or controls development (design or test)
Experience with model-based software testing techniques
Experience with distributed control systems and communication protocols
Background in construction or agricultural equipment operation
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
