Your Responsibilities

As a Product Design Engineer for John Deere Dubuque located in Dubuque, IA , you will

  • Lead the global structures design and development for the Loader Backhoe and Tractor Loader product platforms.

  • Primary focus on new product programs and ongoing continuous improvement projects for the mainframe, loader frame and backhoe dig component structures.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a global structures design team.

  • Collaborate with suppliers, fabrication/weld teams and structural analysis teams to develop innovative, complex structural designs that achieve performance, efficiency, quality, financial, and schedule goals.

  • Create and manage product design guidelines, drawings, and component technical specifications.

What Skills You Need

  • 2 or more years of experience in a Product Engineering Design environment.

  • 2 or more years managing projects and task assignments

  • Working knowledge and experience with new product development processes.

  • Experience developing and applying geometrical dimension and tolerancing principles and tolerance stack ups

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Experience with 3D modeling, project management techniques and engineering analysis fundamentals.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Familiarity with construction, agriculture, or forestry equipment

  • Hands on or formal design experience with structures design (design, test, fatigue analysis, quality)

  • Experience developing load cases and performing and/or interpreting FEA analyses

  • In depth knowledge of stampings, welding, casting, composites, and/or machining processes

  • Working knowledge of PDMLink/Creo

  • Knowledge of systems engineering and Agile development processes.


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Weld, Agricultural, or equivalent
