Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and experienced machinists to join our team on the 3rd shift. Our company has been providing precision-engineered, high-quality weapons, components, and modular weapon systems to the US Military, law enforcement, and government agencies since 1980. With new international projects and contracts on the horizon, we are looking to expand our team with talented CNC operators and manual machinists.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and adjust CNC Mill and Lathe tools to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations.

  • Utilize strong mechanical aptitude to handle various machining processes including milling and lathes (horizontal/vertical).

  • Use precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, and height stands to ensure accuracy.

  • Measure to .001 accuracy and set up machines and tooling (Mazak).

  • Follow written instructions from Work Instruction Sheets.

  • Check parts for conformance using strong blueprint reading skills.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical devices.

  • Familiarity with machining processes and capability to use precision measuring devices.

  • Competence in CNC lathe and mill operations.

  • Ability to measure to .001 accuracy and set up machines and tooling.

  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

  • Ability to follow written instructions and check parts for conformance.

  • Broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with G-codes, M-codes, lathes, and mills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to quickly learn how to make adjustments to tool offsets to correct feature discrepancies.

  • Basic understanding of cutting tools with some experience to judge if they need to be changed.

  • Willingness to learn M and G code programming.

  • Experience with Brother, Okuma, and other similar machines is a plus.

Work Environment

Our facility is very clean and updated, having moved to the Eldridge location in the last 15 years. The environment is well-lit, but candidates should be prepared to work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level can be loud at times.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00
