Indian Hills Community College Site Monitor (Jefferson County Service Center) in Fairfield, Iowa

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing support services at the IHCC extension campus centers. Support activities may include; reception, secretarial duties, and responsibility for general cleanliness of the facility. The position requires the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others, to interpret and to handle routine decisions as related to departmental and college operations and to follow oral and written instructions in detail with accuracy and efficiency.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary training or relevant work experience preferred.

  • Two years clerical/secretarial experience preferred.

  • Ability to interact effectively with people on phone, by e-mail and in person.

  • Ability to type, maintain and organize files.

  • Knowledge of word processing/database required.

  • Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours as needed.Some travel may be required. Occasional daytime hours as needed.

Work Performed:

  • Serve as classroom monitor. Duties include, but are not limited to: proctoring exams, printing scanned materials for distribution to students, delivering handouts, collecting assignments, maintaining classroom discipline.

  • Provide building security and open/close classrooms and building nights and weekends following established college procedures.

  • Assist in the preparation of materials for instructional staff.

  • Assist in scheduling classrooms.

  • Advise students concerning educational plans and career options.

  • Aid in the scheduling, registering, and enrolling of IHCC students.

  • Refer students seeking financial aid or other specified assistance to the appropriate contacts.

  • Maintain accurate records of student contacts.

  • Cooperate as a team member with IHCC staff in performing any duties essential to the achievement of efficient center operations.

  • Greet students and clients, and facilitate services.

  • Responsible for general housekeeping and custodial duties.

  • Promptly report repairs needed for classrooms and equipment.

  • Maintain regular attendance for assigned schedule.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Office Level II, Non-Exempt, Traditional Funding, at will employment, on a letter of employment

Employment Length:

Four Term, Part Time

Schedule:

4:30 p.m. to close; daytime hours as needed

Hourly Rate:

$14.95 - 15.85
