This is a warehouse position which requires the ability to work efficiently both independently as well as in a team environment, follow and troubleshoot protocols and deliver high quality results on time. You will coordinate part of the warehouse processes and will ensure a safe, effective, and efficient operation. You will also hire and supervise work of temporary employees ensuring processes are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
What You'll Do:
For half of the year, you will be part of the second shift team overseeing and leading our operations to ensure targets are met in a timely manner.
Learn and execute multiple aspects of our seed warehouse operations which include but may not be limited to receiving seed, cold room storage, seed treatment and packaging, package sorting and shipping. You will be well-rounded in everything we do.
Supervise temporary/seasonal labor and interns to complete warehouse activities according to protocols while ensuring a safe working environment.
Serve as focal point for supporting the site on performs studies, analysis (trend, variance, impact), assist with process mapping and value stream mapping, risk assessments to determine impacts, and constraints involving product development, production rates, process improvement, program initiatives and develop appropriate countermeasures as needed.
Participate in team supporting activities such as operation preparation, minor equipment maintenance, and information management.
Follow company safety policies, protocols, and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment for self and team members.
During downtime from core responsibilities, will be requested to assist with other areas of the research center functional operations.
What Skills You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or agriculture related fields
Experience in Process Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies.
Excellent communication skills, adept at using standard software programs and learning internal data systems.
Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office is required.
Demonstrated people management experience with the ability to teach and coach employees, ability to manage seasonal and temporary employees.
Strong attention to detail in a deadline and quality driven environment.
Flexibility to work extended days at critical times of the season.
You have a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and find solid resolutions.
You are willing and able to work irregular and overtime hours as needed; during peak seasons shifts run 8-10 hours working day shift (May – Nov) and the second shift (Nov – May).
Must be capable of working in varying ergonomic and environmental conditions for extended periods of time.

This positions is required to work onsite 5 days a week.
