GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Director, Skills to Employment, this position performs career advising and provides job search assistance and placement for customers of IowaWORKS. This individual will support the work of KCC and IowaWORKS workforce programs through completing community outreach, developing needed workshops related to computer basics and job searching, deliver workshops, and greet and support customers coming into the IowaWORKS center.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides excellent, seamless customer service to clients, training providers, support service providers and other community training programs.

  • Fully utilizes the case management tools and ensures all records and case notes are kept current.

  • Strategize to achieve enrollment and performance goals for Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act and GAP tuition assistance programs.

  • Provide services to customers within an integrated office and team at the career one-stop.

  • Conduct group information sessions and workshops for customers. May be asked to develop workshop materials.

  • Develop relationships with local employers for client placement activities.

  • Complete data entry timely both for grant reporting and case management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, social work, psychology, or related field required.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel to off-campus facilities, area schools and businesses.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Full-time vocational, counseling or placement experience preferred.
