Alamo Group Inc. Machine Operator in Indianola, Iowa

Position Summary:

Under immediate supervision operate production machinery. Applies general production and machine shop practices and procedures to operate necessary equipment. Ensures that fabricated parts and components meet Herschel Parts, Inc. standards.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  1. Operates varying machines to produce product for Herschel Parts, Inc. using knowledge of routings, bill of materials, feed systems and blueprints

  2. Moves material and/or work piece manually, by hoist or forklift using safety standards

  3. Starts machine and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction

  4. Complete quality checks according to company standard

  5. Cleans and lubricates machines and tooling as required; may perform other routine machine maintenance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): I

  1. Knowledge and basic understanding of metal fabrication.

  2. Basic math skills.

  3. Able to read and interpret blueprints and bill of materials

  4. Able to perform measurements using tape measure, protractor, square, calipers, gauges and other inspection equipment.

  5. Able to operate forklift.

  6. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  7. Able to work overtime and/or including weekends as production schedules dictate.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required; previous production experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work performed in a non-climate-controlled metal manufacturing production environment, with frequent standing, twisting, bending, stooping for extended periods of time. Occasional (2 to 3 times per day) lifting, pushing or pulling of up to 60 pounds alone and/or with mechanical assistance. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify required material and operate punch press following established safety protocol.
