Description/Job Summary American Athletic, Inc is a major sports equipment manufacturing company located in Jefferson, Iowa. We are owned by Spalding; a division of Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., & leading international basic apparel company. American Athletic, Inc has an immediate opening for a Senior Manufacturing Accountant *at its Jefferson, Iowa facility. The *Senior Manufacturing Accountant is the lead financial role at the manufacturing facility. The position performs detailed analyses to determine costs of business activities, such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor, etc. This role actively participates in cost control and process improvement initiatives, supports strategic business planning processes, and serves as the primary contact for Corporate Finance in reference to all financial matters for the facility. AAI is the official equipment supplier to USA Gymnastics , NCAA Gymnastics Championships, the YMCA National Championships, the Nadia Comaneci International Invitational, and the Bart Connor Invitational. AAI is also an official supporter of the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Spalding has been the official backboard of the NCAA Final Four Championships since 2009 and is one of the most well-known brands in the industry. Our* Jefferson, Iowa facility has been in operation and supporting our local community since 1954. *Responsibilities/Duties * Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, rate schedules and/or services provided to determine effects on costs. Install cost control procedures, conduct analytical cost and profit studies, and direct the development or improvement of methods to control and calculate standards costs. * Collaborate with the corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team with development of budgets and plans for manufacturing spending. Monitor actual results against plans and report on variances. * Train, develop, and monitor work of department staff. * Assist with strategic planning, sales analysis, and manufacturing capacity scheduling to determine appropriate inventory build levels and timing for inventory builds. * Analyze work order variances to identify usage variances and request necessary bill of material or routing changes. * Review and reconcile consignment inventory and work with sales team for resolution when necessary. Maintain obsolete inventory file. Schedule and drive meetings to identify items requiring disposal. * Analyze, develop, and prepare special reports as required. Required Experience * 4 - 6 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting environment required. * Experience with standard costing and ERP systems * Prior experience in supervising others, managing performance and developing people Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ related field required or equivalent work experience * Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost analysis * Strong ability to prioritize and maximize time * Action-oriented "can-do" approach that demonstrates commitment, ownership, and personal accountability * A deep desire to learn and continue to develop as a person * Demonstrated leadership skills * Exhibit strong communication abilities * Demonstrated analytical abilities
