Maintenance Facility Support - Full Time
Facility Support (Dietary, Maintenance, Drivers) Johnston, Iowa
As a member of the Maintenance Team, you are responsible for ensuring that all facilities at ChildServe are properly maintained and preventative maintenance is performed per guidelines of HVAC systems, lawn equipment, company vehicles, and pool care equipment. Successful completion of this job will result in attractive, safe, and well-maintained facilities to support the many children and families that we serve.
Schedule Monday-Friday typical business hours with rotating on-call responsibilities
What You'll DoMaintenance
Respond to all maintenance calls during his/her shift
Be knowledgeable in the proper procedures for emergency generator start-up due to a power outage
Follow local and state building codes
Read and understand blueprints and schematics
Drive ChildServe maintenance vehicles
Receive and store equipment and supplies
Repair, replace and test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances as needed, but do not proceed beyond the limits of training, expertise, and experience
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to ChildServe equipment such as heat pumps, air handlers, ChildServe vehicles, plumbing, etc.
Dry wall patching and painting as needed
Ensure the safe operation of the swimming pool filter systems and equipment
Keep the supervisor advised as to problem areas or needs on a daily basis
Keep ground and parking areas free of refuse, leaves, and limbs
Help in snow removal, sand and salt sidewalks and parking areas
Exercise proper safety practices in the use of and storage of all chemicals
Assist in snow removal, sands and salts sidewalks and parking areas
Perform minor repairs, adjustments and preventative maintenance to all lawn equipment
What You'll Need
High school/equivalent or trade school education required
One-year experience in maintenance field with background in plumbing and wiring preferred
Be able to withstand exposure to the usual childhood diseases and conditions associated with children with disabilities
Requires excellent stamina, including bending, standing and walking during most of the day. Exposure to both heat and cold. Frequentcontact with water and strong cleaning agents and disinfectants.
Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
