Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the Johnston, Iowa Genomic Lab's Gene Editing Molecular Characterization (GEMC) team!
What You Will Do:
Maintain a reliable molecular screening pipeline to support the discovery, characterization, and development of genome editing applications.
Apply state-of-the-art techniques in support of the Biotechnology gene editing pipeline and document experimental data accurately into database systems
Partner with our colleagues across the organization to provide agile and flexible analytical solutions to answer their experimental questions.Coordinate with various laboratories to support Corteva scientists as they seek to improve crops through conventional breeding and genetic engineering
Manage a constantly changing workload appropriately and effectively to ensure that project timelines are met
Operate and maintain molecular laboratory equipment
Ensure that all materials necessary for GEMC production are prepared properly, safely and on time
Documenting details of weekly GEMC production data with an ability to analyze and interpret results
Recording pertinent information in proprietary and standard software applications
Participating in new technology development or process improvement studies
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
What Skills You Need:
Minimum of one (1) year related experience, or equivalent levels of relevant education and experience
You possess the ability to work efficiently both independently, as well as in a team environment
You can follow, develop, and troubleshoot protocols and deliver high quality results on time
Apply state-of-the-art techniques in support of the Biotechnology gene editing
Experience and working knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid characterization
Attention to detail and ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks
Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
Experience with problem solving and process improvement
Self-motivated and goal oriented
You are comfortable with technology and possess good computer aptitude including the use of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and are willing and able to learn other company specific applications as required
Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices
Work Authorization and Relocation:
VISA Sponsorship is NOT available for this position
This position does NOT offer a comprehensive domestic relocation package
Flexible (40% Remote):
- This role will be on-site at our Corteva location and working remotely two (2) days a week
