Corteva Agriscience Seed Quality Testing Specialist in Johnston, Iowa


Corteva Agriscience™ has an opportunity for two Seed Quality Testing Specialist in Johnston, Iowa at our Beal Seed Quality Lab. You will never have a dull day working with us! This position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and evaluation of seed samples for quality testing while demonstrating thorough knowledge of seed sampling practices.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform quality testing procedures in accordance with ISTA, AOSA, and AASCO sampling guidelines, and assess testing requirements according to established guidelines.

  • Verify and record quality test results with consistent attention to detail.

  • Perform all duties with a high level of accuracy in order to maintain the integrity of quality results.

  • Assist in monitoring the proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • Maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment in compliance with Safety and Health guidelines and housekeeping practices.

  • Train on cross-functional tasks in other functions of the laboratory on processes that may need additional support during high volume or critical periods.

  • Monitor product for quality assurance and ensure activities meet the requirements of the Quality Plan.

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve productivity, performance, methods, troubleshoot issues, and identify quality defects.

  • Develop and maintain good communication and rapport with site personnel and employees from other Pioneer departments.


The following are required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • A minimum of 1 year of work and/or school experience in an agriculture or biological or related field

  • Detail oriented with a history of transactional excellence and accuracy

  • Interest in or knowledge of advanced seed testing activities and equipment

  • Strong Microsoft Office skill level

  • Willingness and ability to work with repetitive tasks and motions while maintaining high attention to detail

  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary

  • Willingness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

The following are preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Biology, or related field

  • Previous experience in a production operation environment

  • A Registered Seed Technologist (RST) certificateor able to obtain one
