POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of a team of workers in assembly, mechanical completion, repair, maintenance and QC of Wind Turbines. In addition, Installation Techs may be assigned other tasks as needed during construction of wind projects including any foundation, offload or erection activity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures and lead team to do the same

• Leads a team of 1-5 workers in the safe and productive assembly of wind turbines

• Climb wind turbines daily and supervise all activity inside a wind turbine during construction

• Uses standard hand signals and voice commands to guide crane operators in the lifting and assembly of wind turbine components

• Ensure that the team does their job safely, skillfully, and efficiently and meet acceptable standards of quality

• Make certain the assigned work progresses on schedule

• Interpret specifications, blueprints and installation manuals to workers and assigns duties

• Recommends measures to improve production, equipment performance and quality of product and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of process

• Deal with the routing of material and equipment and with the laying out of the areas of work

• Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges and discipline

• May train new workers and assist in jobsite orientations

• Maintain time and production records

• May confer with jobsite superintendent and/or Foreman to coordinate activities of individual projects

• Complete required Equipment Maintenance report and Equipment/Materials transfer reports

• Preplanning daily activities and monitoring tasks

• Complete required daily project reports

• Monitor small tooling maintenance and storage and site materials

• Complete employee documentation when required

• Required to travel to different jobsites on a limited notice

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• Six to twelve months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Tower Rescue Training

• Rigger and Signalperson (NCCCO enrolled or scheduled)

• Safe Driver

• LOTO

• Tool Drop

• First aide/CPR

• Confined Space

• NFPA 70 (enrolled or scheduled)

• OSHA 10 (enrolled or scheduled)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles

• Trained and certified in tower rescue

• Rigger and Signalperson training required (preferably NCCCO or equivalent)

• Must possess excellent mechanical skills and attention to detail

• Read WTG installation manuals, drawings and schematics skillfully

• Must possess strong communication and management skills

• Ability to work well under pressure and work within timelines

• Read, comprehend and write simple instructions, short correspondence and memos

• Present information in small group situations to customers and other employees

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

• Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs

• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
