Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. With its friendly atmosphere, safe environment, and progressive spirit, Lenox is a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities Maintenance person is responsible for the building and grounds maintenance, including snow removal, for the Lenox facility. Qualifications DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Outside maintenance and snow removal alongside CASA (equipment preparedness). Checks that emergency lighting and emergency shows are working properly. Adaptable to different aspects of construction including concrete work, tile, carpentry, painting, and pipe insulating. Has great mechanical skills. Responsible for maintenance of facilities including rebuilding and repairing (walls, floors, ceiling, doors and etc…) Knowledge of construction equipment. Responsible for and the use of all hand tools. Understands how to safely use a ladder, a fire extinguisher, tools (such as power and metal cutting tools), the 3 steps to the troubleshooting procedure and how to determine the size of wire used in a circuit. Adheres to safe work practices, following GMP’s, maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring that product quality is maintained. Reports to management if any conditions or practices may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Ensures regulatory compliance at all times. Able to perform other duties as assigned. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Good communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Capability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Licenses, certificates, and registrations required: Drivers License OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections: Ability to safely lift 100 lbs. occasionally. Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders. Ability to work in high areas off of the ground. Good math skills. Ability to work in a safe manner. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, humid, and warm environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to become certified in LOTO (lock out tag out) and confined space. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments. Open to change. Positive interpersonal relationships. Able to work independently and with others in a team environment. Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction. Displays responsible behavior at work.
